# HCTraceSetEtwEnabled

> Turns Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) output of libHttpClient trace messages on or off.

Enables or disables Event Tracing for Windows (ETW) tracing on Windows PC and XBOX consoles.

## Syntax

```cpp theme={null}
void HCTraceSetEtwEnabled(  
         bool enabled  
)  
```

### Parameters

*enabled*   \_In\_\
Type: bool

`true` to write libHttpClient trace messages to ETW; `false` to stop.

### Return value

Type: void

## Remarks

The first enable call registers the libHttpClient TraceLogging provider `libHttpClient` (GUID `{2B6274B2-159F-4E6F-B800-0D17009E147A}`); subsequent enable calls reuse the registration. libHttpClient writes each trace message as a `libHttpClient_TraceMessage` event with a `Message` field. Messages are written only while tracing is initialized and ETW output is enabled, and only when the message level is at or below the trace area verbosity.
