# SetShapeFiltVolQ

> SetShapeFiltVolQ

Sets the Q (quality) factor.

## Syntax

```cpp theme={null}
HRESULT SetShapeFiltVolQ(  
         SHAPE_FILTVOL_CONTEXT* context,  
         float q  
)  
```

### Parameters

*context*   \_Inout\_\
Type: [SHAPE\_FILTVOL\_CONTEXT](https://docs.xbox.com/reference/audio/shapefiltvolcontext/structs/shape_filtvol_context.md)\*

Pointer to a [SHAPE\_FILTVOL\_CONTEXT](https://docs.xbox.com/reference/audio/shapefiltvolcontext/structs/shape_filtvol_context.md) object.

*q*   \
Type: float

The Q factor.

### Return value

Type: HRESULT

HRESULT success or error code.

## Remarks

The Filter/Volume (FLTVOL) block is implemented as a Chamberlin filter. The greater the value of Q, the narrower the bandwidth of the filter. To get the current value of Q, use [GetShapeFiltVolQ](https://docs.xbox.com/reference/audio/shapefiltvolcontext/functions/getshapefiltvolq.md).

The filtering behavior is designed to be identical to that in XAudio2.
