# ApuFree

> ApuFree

Frees APU physical memory.

## Syntax

```cpp theme={null}
void ApuFree(
         void* virtualAddress
)
```

### Parameters

*virtualAddress*   \_In\_\
Type: void\*

Virtual address to free.

### Return value

Type: void

## Remarks

Freeing the virtual address invalidates the physical address. To create an allocation, use [ApuAlloc](https://docs.xbox.com/reference/audio/apu/functions/apualloc.md).

The virtual and physical addresses that are returned by `ApuAlloc` represent different views of the same address space.
